2nd try for Home Care

We have made quite a bit of progress lately on a number of fronts:
  • We got caught up on all the doctor appointments and testing that we've needed to do
  • We had a family meeting with all the siblings and 4 representatives of the geriatric health team to discuss care planning. We seem to have cobbled together a sort of plan, which I hope will work out...but things will continue to be in flux until we figure out the best combination of solutions.
  • We set up home support for 2 days per week, ramping up to 5 days per week by the end of the month.
The only thing I'm really stressing about now is how my mom will handle having a home support worker. She refused to have one a couple of months ago, but her mood and abilities have changed quite a bit since then (mood=better/ abilities=worse), and I am dearly hoping that she'll allow it to happen. I'm trying not to stress about it unless/until I have to!

I am also realizing how much organizing and planning is involved to put all this stuff in place. It's a bit of a headache. There are so many variables and people involved that it's not as straightforward as it seems.

At times like this, I start counting down to the next Support Group meeting, because it always makes me feel better to go there! 5 days to go!
I will have so much to tell them.
