My mom was prescribed Cipralex last week. It's not specifically an Alzheimer's drug. It's an anti-depressant, and is supposed to help with her anxiety attacks and crying episodes.
Unfortunately, it will take about 6 weeks to work up to the therapeutic dose and start noticing the effects. AC and I will hopefully have moved out by that time, so the new caregiver will experience the benefits instead of us. I hope she will be able to monitor how she is doing on it.
For her sake though, I do hope it helps her. She suffers so terribly when she has her anxious episodes. Her quality of life would be so greatly improved if she didn't have this terrible anxiety, sadness and fear.
